Project Manager (Working for Water and Working for Ecosystems Projects)

A challenging vacancy currently exists for a Project Manager at Tankwa-Karoo National Park. It is isolated with the closest settlement and shops 130 km from the Park. The area is sparsely populated and interested applicants must be prepared for living in isolation. Therefore, candidates should familiarise themselves with the living and working conditions before applying.

Requirements

  • National Diploma in Conservation or Environmental Management/Environmental Science
  • Minimum of 2 years of proven project management experience
  • 2-3 Years’s experience in rehabilitation techniques is essential for this position and or
  • 2-3 Years’s experience in invasive alien plant clearing is essential for this position
  • 2-3 Years’ experience in health and safety management and compliance
  • Computer literacy in MS Office packages
  • Code 08 driver’s license
  • Fluent in Afrikaans

Responsibilities

  • Operational planning and assist with strategic planning for the projects
  • Managing the projects according to organisational standards
  • Managing human resources and logistics within the projects

  • The above position is a fixed-term contract position up to 31 March 2027, renewable on mutual agreement. This position is on a C4 Paterson Salary Band total remuneration package of R 23 434.63 per month as the incumbent will stay inside the Park.  No Tool of Trade allowance, as a project vehicle will be made available for work purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the review and development of recruitment policies and procedures.
  • Develop sustainable talent acquisition, hiring plans and strategies, aligned with the organization’s shifting business needs.

Labour Relations Practitioner

(Fixed-Term Contract – 3 Months)

A position exists for a Labour Relations Practitioner within the Human Capital Management Department in Kruger National Park (KNP), reporting to the Manager: Labour Relations: KNP.

Purpose of the Job

To defend cases at the CCMA, facilitate the resolution of disputes between employees and supervisors, coordinate grievances and disciplinary investigations, render an advisory service, and conduct training on labour relations issues to contribute to a sound labour relations climate in the KNP.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advisory services on disciplinary and grievances investigations and hearings based on applicable policies, standard operating procedures, best practices and applicable legislation.
  • Attend, represent and successfully defend SANParks’ cases at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA)
  • Research case law and or outcomes of previous internal cases and advise both line management and employees.
  • Provide training on policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Track clients’ enquiries and give feedback.
  • Setting up and coordinating meetings with internal stakeholders
  • Liaise with line management, employees and trade unions.
  • Register and update all disciplinary, grievances and appeals actions on HCM systems.

  • Train managers or supervisors on topics related to labour relations, such as working conditions and collective agreements.
  • Facilitate information sessions to collect issues raised by employees and present them to the Manager: Labour Relations, KNP.
  • To track and co-ordinate the details of grievance, disciplinary hearings and CCMA cases so that they are conducted and concluded within the stipulated timeframe.
  • Assess risks associated with grievances and disciplinary actions and propose remedial action to Manager: Labour Relations, KNP
  • Mediate discussions between line management and shop stewards in order to reconcile differences.
  • Monitor line management and employees’ adherence to collective agreements.
  • Monitor and accurately administer trade union membership in accordance with organisational rights agreements.

A challenging vacancy currently exists for a Coordinator: Legal Land Administration to coordinate critical legal land governance and administrative tasks within the Park Planning and Development unit to ensure SANParks compliance with all relevant policies, procedures and processes regarding land inclusion.

Requirements

  • LLB or equivalent. LLM/ PGDip in environmental or property law is desirable.
  • 1 – 3 years of experience in administration of legal land processes and procedures (land purchase, land donations, contracts, national park agreements).
  • Good understanding of legal and admin processes and procedures – to be clearly articulated in the CV.
  • Experience in protected area legislation (National Environmental Protected Areas Act, Act 57 of 2003) – to be clearly articulated in the CV.

  • Conduct relevant enquiries regarding rights on land (mining rights, servitudes, land claims, etc.).
