INTRODUCTION

JOB DESCRIPTION

FINANCE BUSINESS PARTNER
INTRODUCTION
Working closely with business unit Heads, the Finance Business Partner will be the central Finance point of contact for all Finance related support. This role strives to deliver robust reporting, analysis and financial control of operating/capital costs and also provides essential Finance expertise in the appraisal of new projects and the measurement of cost performance in project delivery. The Finance Business Partner will also drive and support the implementation of process improvements and reporting enhancements to deliver accurate and relevant financial management information to support decision making. The Finance Business Partner is responsible for leading the Financial Planning and Analysis team in preparing and distributing accurate, relevant financial management information and perform foreseeable needs analysis for internal clients on a continued basis in achievement of JSE strategic financial targets.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Business and Financial Results Management
- Facilitate the entire planning and budgeting process creating and ensuring strict adherence to the budget timetable, populating of the budgets with business units, timeous communication of material issues and changes and creating of standardised high quality presentations with supporting commentary and analysis
- Produce and maintain monthly timely and accurate management accounting information with supporting commentary on variances, statistics and other required analysis.
- Perform the rolling forecast activities in order to track the revenue and expenses against the budget and adjust the expenses and revenue for the future months as per discussions with business stakeholders.
- Ensure strategy implementation by monitoring financial performance against budget, forecast and strategic targets
- Provide commercial insight, analysis and modelling for pricing changes to support business in optimal pricing for products
- Contribute to cost control by driving cost awareness through the organisation and implementing appropriate controls and reporting

SME DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
INTRODUCTION
About the SME Accelerator: The JSE Enterprise Development solution was established to enable the growth of SMEs across South Africa. It’s main solution is the Accelerator programme, which is a customized solution to pivot medium sized enterprises. It has demonstrates success by helping companies grow in revenue, market expansion and organisational & leadership development. The solution also supports red tape reduction initiatives, convenes SME development role players to design aligned and collaborative solutions and provides direct capital matching and capital readiness solutions. Purpose of the role This is a new within our dynamic SME Development team will play a key part in building the JSE’s SME community. The successful candidate will work with innovative SMEs to deliver novel JSE programmes, develop new propositions that challenge the market and create a community of SMEs across our core sectors that drive innovation, grow the companies across markets and support funding readiness . This role will represent the JSE in our SME communities, developing relationships which will be critical to our success whilst applying a business knowledge and acumen which will be critical to theirs. We are looking for a great communicator, someone who is client focused and who has a proven track-record of success with the ability to get things done working independently and within a team. The ability to build relationships, to harness capability and to shape opportunities for business growth is essential.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Delivery of SME development activities, including but not necessarily limited to:
- Working on projects and new commercial engagements to support the wider business programme through SME development, and holding events that support and promote the programme
- To provide a point of contact for all SME enquiries and for SME relationships at the JSE and provide, create, lead and manage the relationships for a range of propositions and business opportunities to support the JSE brand and business development activities in the marketplace on behalf of our SME partners
- Undertake SME development activities individually, with the team and with agencies, including but not limited to Business Needs Assessments, running events/webinars for the community, project exploration workshops, as well as supporting funded projects that require SME development input
- Managing the Customer Relations Management (CRM) process for SMEs you are supporting, ensuring all SME entries are maintained accurately and in a timely manner
- To provide a point of contact for all SME enquiries for stakeholders, such as government and SME growth entities and for SME relationships that will facilitate the JSEs strategic SME goals, create, lead and manage the relationships for a range of propositions and business opportunities to support the JSE brand and business development activities in the marketplace on behalf of our SME partners
- Develop relationships with broader stakeholders including local, regional and national government, businesses, international development and aid agencies, and academia.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree qualifications in business or a related discipline, or equivalent related experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ prior experience working in a SME and business engagement and coaching role
- Proven track record of delivering projects with multiple partners
- Excellent person with organisational skills, the ability to prioritise your own work, and coordinate the work of other team members within the wider programmes

INTRODUCTION
To lead the indices team in ensuring the quality and resilience of operational functions, thereby supporting the excellence of the index-related products and services of the JSE and contributing to revenue growth.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Results Delivery
- Financial Provide input into the formalisation for the divisional budget.
- Manage allocated team budget by tracking costs and reviewing forecasts on a monthly basis. Apply cost effectiveness principles in planning and delivery to contribute to achievement of divisional financial targets. Ensure systems, products or projects delivered contributes to improve client/JSE service by providing input on budgets, resources required, and process based on the understanding of costs, business objectives and relationship with external suppliers and stakeholders.
- Contribute to the Information Services revenue diversification and growth strategy by encouraging revenue-aligned thinking within the team and recognising positive contributions.
- Business – Act as subject matter expert representing the index function at the JSE. Maintain a deep understanding of team processes, outputs, dependencies, methodology and stakeholders. Coordinate index deliverables across a range of internal divisions, including Capital Markets, Post Trade Services, ITD, Marketing and Information Services.
- Provide strategic thinking to shape the medium-term Strategic plan for the division, including identifying potential revenue diversification and growth, new products and services, and awareness of disruptors.
- Provide strategic thinking and contributions to crafting of departmental business plan based on professional knowledge and experience, to ensure delivery of focus areas for the year in support of divisional strategy.
- Draw up a team business plan for complex tasks (1 month window) as well as plans for longer periods (1 year and 3 year). Assist with the division of such plans into smaller tasks that can be allocated, measured and tracked. Allocate sub-tasks to individual team members and determine target dates. Track individual delivery against the plan.
- Work closely with the Product Owners responsible for supporting the team to ensure that automation and system requirements are correctly defined and prioritised.
- Drive process optimisation and enhancement, with the emphasis on providing improved results at a lower cost, which would reduce the risk of failure or enhancing sustainability.
- Deliver insightful research, methodology and discussion papers of high quality through a structured research process with contributions from the team. Assist team members with research and development projects with support in the areas of ideation, planning, editing and content review. Present research and development outputs to advisory committees, internal governance structures and impacted teams.
- Lead the preparation of brochures and other marketing material by providing specialist content, business context and quality assurance. Provide specialist content, business context and quality assurance to the website team.
- Risk Management
- Act as the departmental data champion in line with the Enterprise Information Governance framework. Ensure that the data and information overseen by the team (which includes third party produced information and calculated information) meets measurable requirements and is finely checked postproduction and distribution, thereby supporting the drive to treat data as a strategic asset.
- Identify weaknesses (in terms of accuracy and efficiency) in existing team processes, including data, operational and analytic processes. Implement mitigations to reduce the risks.
- Supporting the divisional risk champion to deliver on the JSE enterprise risk management framework. Ensure that the team risk register is maintained in the ERM risk log. Critically identify, assess and mitigate key risks that could impact on delivery.
- Ensure that all team-related delivery incidents, including BTB incidents, are correctly and timeously logged and appropriately escalated. Play a role in actively remediating any such incident and implementing plans to prevent future recurrence.
- Act as Risk Champion: Prepare documentation and lead Risk Manco meeting. Support the relevant Divisional Directors in discharging their risk responsibilities as Risk Owners by inter alia, ensuring that risks are proactively identified, assessed and appropriately managed within the JSE Group’s risk appetite.
- Coordinate, in consultation with the ERM function and their relevant Exco member, the implementation, maintenance and reporting on risk management. Actively seek support and where necessary escalate matters/issues blocking the division from achieving JSE Group objectives.
- Actively participate in the Risk Champion Forum. Adding value to the risk management process by providing guidance and support to manage problematic risks of a transversal nature. Actively participate in the Risk Champion Forum meetings and other initiatives.
Stakeholder Relationship Management
- Client Centricity, ensure that all client queries are responded to within the agreed timescales. Promote a culture of professional conduct, a concern for clients, and a sense of urgency when dealing with clients within the team.
- Ensure that all team interactions with clients are logged timeously at the appropriate level of detail in the agreed system and format.
- Monitor client interaction with team members and intervene as necessary to ensure that the quality of JSE responses is at the appropriately high standard. Take personal responsibility for correcting customer-service problems and correct any such problems promptly. Review the quality of client support and intervene as required to ensure that the quality of the team’s stakeholder relationship management remains high.
- Take responsibility for all client interactions with the team and have a complete view of the JSE internal structures. Use this to escalate queries to the correct person or team as required.
- Communicate with, assist, and educate clients at all levels through phone calls, emails and client visits. Initiate frequent client meetings and take a leading role in these routine client service meetings. Make self fully available to assist with both technical and business queries, especially when client is going through a critical period.
- Act as first point of escalation for any client complaints arising from team service. Attempt to resolve any such complaints in a rational and fair way, to the mutual benefit of the JSE and the client.
- Sign off on all methodology documentation, market notices, service hotlines, technical notices, whitepapers or consultation notes that are published to clients or other stakeholders.
- Internal Stakeholder, proactively work to monitor, build and maintain relationships between the team and other internal teams, both up-stream and down-stream. Work closely with other internal managers to ensure alignment across projects, delivery, client satisfaction, and strategy. Build and maintain collaborative relationships with departmental heads and JSE executive.
- Coordinate with colleagues from the Capital Markets Division and maintain an awareness of their clients and business model to ensure that index solutions are aligned with their strategic thinking, client requirements and market research.
- Work closely with Capital Markets Division to ensure that the JSE index offering is well understood by exchange clients, and that any concerns from cliens are effectively managed.
- Coordinate with colleagues from Marketing, ITD, Post Trade Services and Market Data to ensure that existing index solutions are appropriately maintained and supported, and that new solutions are delivered effectively.
- Provide technical support to internal teams around the implementation and interpretation of index events, such as index reviews and corporate actions.
- Other Stakeholders
- Maintain effective advisory committees linked to the team’s function by engaging with committee members and soliciting new members to the committee when required. Maintain an effective relationship with the committee chair.
- Contribute meaningfully on behalf of the team at a range of industry body meetings, advisory committee meetings, and regulatory body meetings on index-related topics that affect the JSE.
- Provide data to the media within the parameters of JSE policies and be aware of the framework and scope within which questions from the media can be answered
- Ensure good vendor relationships by interacting and collaborating with third party data suppliers and partners in a professional manner.
- Build strategic JSE / Industry / Global networks of thought leaders and relationships through client and other stakeholder interaction.
- Independently present information on index-related topics to groups of stakeholders or clients, by preparing appropriate visual aids, presenting material and responding to interactive questions.
Process Management
- Process Outputs, Ensure delivery of all team operational outputs, such as: index reviews, reweighting’s and reconstitutions; free float reviews; treatment of corporate actions; EOD index data processing; daily index valuations; ICA publication.
- Operational Processes, Ensure an expert understanding of all operational team processes. Be able to drive resolutions in the event of process failure.
- Ensure that all business processes are documented appropriately, and that process documentation is tested regularly. Documentation and process design should incorporate business continuity contingencies.
- Identify and eliminate any key-man dependencies within operational functions.
- Create and implement appropriate operational frameworks, including resource plans with clear work allocation and accountability.
- Track that timelines are adhered to by abiding to SLA times contracted with clients or internal stakeholders and report on delivery in the context of these SLAs. Ensure that all operational and client-facing incidents are appropriately logged, and mitigations implemented to reduce future recurrence thereof. Determine and implement corrective action when any aspect of the processes does not function correctly by identifying where and in which step it failed, the cause of the failure and how to remedy it.
- Manage team to proactively alert internal and external stakeholders of any inconsistencies, errors or delays associated with team outputs.
- Analyse data discrepancies by understanding the various data inputs and their interactions as well as the necessary formulas. Identify and taking the necessary steps to resolve issues.
- Focus on timeous and data quality standards being met to ensure that clients base their decisions on accurate information and JSE client service is maintained at a high level.
- Manage team participation in JSE projects, leading team to provide input on index-related changes, contribute to project execution, and ensure that deadlines are met.
Team Management
- Responsible for managing the Indices team. Accountable for independent judgement applied, decisions made, and actions taken. Take accountability for making others successful by removing obstacles to success.
- Participate and lead in the recruitment process to ensure that selections contribute to the success of the team.
- For all team processes, ensure that the quality and accuracy of work delivered by the team is of an appropriately high level. Monitor and record individual and team performance against standardised time and accuracy objectives. Hold regular meetings with the team as well as regular one-on-one meetings with all direct reports.
- Ensure that each team member has a job profile with a view of full performance on the job.
- Create performance agreements with direct reports that are aligned with individual job profiles, annual divisional and company targets, and the individual’s personal development. Performance agreements will include measurable goals and objectives to enable direct reports to understand how their performance will be viewed, recognised and rewarded. Ensure that all team members understand and support the JSE vision and divisional strategy.
- Conduct performance review sessions with direct reports to review performance and progress against targets and agree on appropriate action required to meet targets or standards. Identify and tackle any performance concerns.
- Allocate or re-allocate tasks among team members to ensure that all team members can work productively and have a workload in line with their skills and experience. Manage team capacity through leave approvals.
- Ensure the sustainability of the team by acting as a coach and guide. Provide developmental support for team by advising on problem resolution and other questions. Supervise and mentor direct reports in all aspects of daily operations. Help team members to identify gaps in their knowledge and provide on-the-job training to close these and creating development plans.
- Assist with the on-boarding process for new team members in line with the guidelines provided by HR. Assist new team members to draw up a technical development plan and assist with the driving out of this plan. Allocate team resources appropriately to drive out the rapid upskilling and development of new team members.
Transformation and Innovation Contribution
- Prepare for and participate in weekly divisional Manco meetings, follow through on action points from meeting.
- Actively support JSE internal initiatives to bring transformational change to internal company culture, including agile methodologies and The JSE Way.
- Improve quality and range of data products and services by refining existing offering and developing innovative new <index> products. Include clients in a co-creation process to ensure that new offerings meet client needs.
- Build an independent opinion on client and broader market needs, problems, or opportunities and possibilities for implementation by acting on this opinion e.g., recommends approaches which are new and different from those requested by the clients. Analyse, research, develop and implement improvement/innovative ideas and value adding solutions contributing to divisional and JSE results.
