Minister Motshekga announced that 282,894 candidates achieved this distinction, constituting a substantial 40.9% of the total candidates who participated in the 2023 National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams. This marked a noteworthy increase from the 38.4% recorded in 2022, signifying a positive trajectory in academic achievements.

Provincial Excellence and Noteworthy Growth

The breakdown of results at the provincial level revealed commendable achievements across the country. The Free State emerged as the leading province with an outstanding 89.0% pass rate, showcasing a commendable increase of 0.5 percentage points from the previous year.
