SASSA: Helping South Africans in Need

TThe South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is a government agency that provides social assistance to low-income South Africans. SASSA offers a variety of programs, including grants for the elderly, disabled, and children.

SASSA was established in 2004 to replace the Department of Social Development's Welfare Branch. The agency's mission is to "provide social assistance to all South Africans who are in need, regardless of race, gender, or creed."

SASSA offers a number of different programs, including:

Old Age Grants: These grants are available to South Africans who are 60 years of age or older

Disability Grants: These grants are available to South Africans who are permanently disabled and unable to work.

Child Support Grants: These grants are available to South African children under the age of 18 who are living in households with a monthly income below a certain threshold

Care Dependency Grants: These grants are available to South Africans who are caring for a disabled child or adult who is unable to care for themselves.

To apply for SASSA benefits, you can visit your local SASSA office or apply online. You will need to provide proof of identity, proof of residence, and proof of income.
