Key Responsibilities
As a security officer at UJ, your primary responsibilities include safeguarding university property, staff, students, and visitors. Duties range from physical patrolling and access control to handling emergency incidents and enforcing security policies. Requirements
Candidates must possess a Grade 12 qualification or equivalent, along with a valid Grade C PSIRA registration and basic computer literacy. A clear record from the South African Police Services and a valid driver’s license are essential. Additionally, applicants should have a minimum of two years’ experience in security services and meet medical, psychological, and physical fitness requirements.

Working Conditions
Security officers at UJ can expect shift work aligned with the university’s operational needs, including day, night, and alternating shifts. The role may involve travel between different sites and working in various weather conditions. Uniform attire is mandatory.
Recommendations
Preference will be given to applicants with security/risk management qualifications, knowledge of relevant systems like Impro Portal and Nimbus, and experience in educational or corporate campus security environments. Additional preferences include possession of a Professional Driver’s Permit (PDP), higher PSIRA Grades or Accreditation, and relevant training in firefighting and first aid.
