KZN Sands mineral sands operation is situated at Empangeni in KwaZulu-Natal. The operation, which employs about 700 people, consists of Fairbreeze Mine near Richards Bay, and the Central Processing Complex in Empangeni.

About the P1/P2 Learning Programme
Tronox KZN Sands are inviting applications for Technician-In-Training Opportunities at our operations located in Empangeni and Mtunzini, KwaZulu- Natal (South African Citizens Only).
Primary purpose:
To undergo an intensive development programme that will result in completion of P1 and P2 developing your personal competence as a Technician-In-Training.
These are temporary positions for a period of 12-months for non-technical and technical fields.
Qualifications
We are looking for dynamic and self-motivated individuals with the necessary ability and intention to enter a Work Integrated Learning programme for the following disciplines:
- P1/P2 Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
- P1/P2 Analytical Chemistry
- P1/P2 Metallurgical/ Chemical Engineering
- P1/P2 Mining
- P1/P2 Instrumentation (Electrical Light)
Who can apply?
Candidates who have completed:
- S4 in any of the abovementioned disciplines (Mandatory)
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science (Mandatory)
- Valid Driver’s License (Advantage)

- Macambini [Inkosi Mathaba]
- Madlebe [Inkosi Zungu]
Municipalities:
- Umhlathuze Municipality
- Umlalazi municipality
- Mandeni municipality

- Any Candidate currently/previously registered with any SETA for any learning programme will not be considered.
- Pre-Screening evaluation will form part of the selection process.
- Successful applicants will be required to undergo a medical assessment.
- Psychometric evaluations may form part of the selection process.

About Tronox KZN Sands
The KZN Sands operation is situated at Empangeni in KwaZulu Natal. The operation consists of the Fairbreeze Mine at Mtunzini and Central Processing Complex in Empangeni. The Fairbreeze Mine uses hydraulic mining techniques to mine slurry for the primary wet plant at the mine.
