South African Airways Technical invites young South African males and females to apply for their Apprenticeship Training Programme. The training is conducted at South African Airways Technical, located at ORT International Airport, one of Africa’s most respected accredited training facilities.
Programme Purpose:
South African Airways requires highly skilled technicians for its maintenance division. To meet these high standards, South African Airways Technical Training has established apprenticeship programmes across eleven trade disciplines. Qualified Senior Instructors, specialists in their respective fields, will facilitate and coach apprentices to ensure complete mastery of the necessary skills.
Duration:
The courses are performance-based rather than time-bound. The time required to complete the necessary modules depends on the individual’s initiative and motivation. On average, an apprentice is expected to complete the full course within 2-3 years.
Tasks/Responsibilities:
- Attend and pass one Technical College block course; further college studies are optional.
- Perform specific tasks and responsibilities within each trade to ensure the airworthiness and safety of aircraft.
- Select the trade that interests you the most, based on your interests, capabilities, and potential, in order of preference.
Requirements:
- Medically fit
- South African citizen
- At least 16 years of age
- Proficient in English
- Prepared to sign a learnership contract
Qualifications:
- Passed Grade 12 with:
- Mathematics
- English
- Physical Science
- All subjects must have at least an E symbol on Higher Grade or D symbol on Standard Grade, or a minimum Achievement Level 4 (or equivalent)
- Alternatively, a minimum N3 certificate with Mathematics and Engineering Science (D symbol)
