What Does a Sassa Status of ‘Application Assessed’ Mean?
As a social grant applicant, you may be wondering what it means when your application status says ‘Application Assessed’. According to Sassa, this means that your application has been received by a Sassa official and will be processed.
This stage of application could then result in the message ‘Application Captured – Waiting for Approval’.
The Social Grants Appeals Process
The application may be in the process of being approved. If your application is rejected, Sassa will notify you of the reason and provide you with the opportunity to appeal if you believe it was rejected unfairly.
To do so, go to your nearest Sassa office branch and fill out an appeal form along with your supporting documents. Appeals must be filed within 90 days of receiving notification that your application was rejected.
Sassa may also suspend a permanent social grant for a variety of reasons. These include changes in financial or medical circumstances, a negative grant review outcome, or if a grant was approved by mistake.
The agency may also suspend grant payments if fraudulent activity is detected, recipients misrepresent their circumstances, or certain documents are not submitted.
