SASSA Launches Community Outreach Program : In an effort to bring essential services closer to remote communities, the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) in Mpumalanga has initiated the Integrated Community Registration Outreach (ICROP) program. The focus is on reducing the inconvenience of beneficiaries traveling to SASSA offices, ensuring that social grant money is not used for public transport.

The ICROP initiative will be implemented at KaMdladla community, situated at the heart of several villages under the Nkomazi municipality, including Phiva, KaMhlushwa, Ruth first, Mzinti, Langeloop, and Ritchershoek farms. Many residents in these areas qualify for social grants but face challenges accessing SASSA offices due to financial constraints or lack of internet access for online applications.

Additionally, services will be extended to Louisville, surrounded by farming areas such as Louiscreek, KaGaz, Mashayana, and Madubula. Recognizing that a significant portion of the population in this region comprises farm workers with limited time to visit government departments, the outreach aims to bridge this gap.

SASSA’s ICROP initiative not only includes the provision of all SASSA services but also focuses on beneficiary education regarding payment methods. Stakeholders, including Banking institutions, SAPS, IEC, SEDA, NDA, Department of Labour, Home Affairs, and Health, will actively participate in the event, offering a range of services.

The outreach events are scheduled for Friday, 10th November 2023, at two venues:

  1. KaMdladla Community Hall:
  • Date: Friday, 10th November 2023
  • Time: 08:00
  1. Louisville:
