This year-long program is geared towards nurturing expertise in a range of trades, including Gravure Pre-Press, Lithography Press, Mechanised Bookbinding, Gravure Press, Sheetfed Press, Printers Mechanic, and Printers Electrician.
Embracing a holistic approach, the apprenticeship spans a period of 36 months, during which participants will engage in a blend of guided theoretical education and hands-on experiential training. This well-rounded curriculum is thoughtfully designed to equip apprentices with the necessary knowledge and practical skills required for their chosen trade. The culmination of this training is the preparation for the rigorous trade tests that await successful participants upon completion of the program.
Those who are chosen will enter into a contract with both the employer and the FP&M SETA for the entirety of the training period.
- Stage 1: Engage in roughly 4-5 months of theoretical training at the academy.
- Stages 2 to 4: Undergo approximately 26-30 months of practical training at Novus Print to gain hands-on experience in the core aspects of the training.
- Spanning three years, the apprenticeship encompasses essential theoretical instruction provided by the academy and Printing SA.
Upon successfully completing the apprenticeship program, there is no obligatory commitment to secure a permanent position in the respective trade.
