PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To develop incumbents on a registered learnership programme intended to provide learners with applied competence to qualify as Miner upon successful completion of the training programme which is not limited to acting/relieving Shift Supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12/ NQF Level 4/ STD 10 certificate with Mathematics is essential.
• A minimum of 12 months underground experience is required.
• Duration for the programme is 36 months (3 years)

The candidate must:

• Undergo assessment and be recommended in order to attend a formal interview.
• Obtain a medical fitness certificate (Red Ticket), complete RFA.

COMPETENCIES:

• Communication skills is essential.
• Ability to solve problems is essential.
• Planning and organising skills are essential.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Successfully complete all Mining training phases and through on and off the job training.
• Adapt to Implats rules, regulations and standards to ensure organisational best practices and legislative compliance are adhered to.
• Spend a predetermined time on training of the various or required disciplines.
• Ensure legal compliance of the Mine Standards and MHSA.
• Achieve set production and safety targets.
• Act as supervisor with limited authority to gain supervision skills and experience.
• Effectively manage and resolve conflicts and problems.
• To obtain a Blasting Certificate.
