Position Overview
Position: Learner Shaft Timberman
Job Grading: NG
Department: Human Resources
Site: South Deep Gold Mine
Join our formal learnership development program designed to equip aspiring Shaft Timbermen with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the mining industry.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this opportunity, you must meet one of the following criteria:
- Reside in one of our Host Communities: Bekkersdaal, Zuurberkom, Thusanang, Hillshaven, Westonaria, Poortjie, Simunye, Kalbasfontein, or Jachtfontein.
- Successfully complete Grade 12 or matric at a school located within our Host Communities.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science
- Valid Onsetter and Blasting certificate
- Minimum 1-3 years’ experience as a Banksman/Onsetter in a vertical shaft environment
- Medical fitness assessment at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre
- Pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test and other relevant assessments
