Job Opportunity :Are you a skilled interpreter looking for a rewarding opportunity? The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development is offering four Senior Court Interpreter positions, providing an attractive annual salary ranging from R294,321 to R343,815. As part of the role, the successful candidates will be required to sign a performance agreement.

Job Opportunity :Position Details: Senior Court Interpreter (4 Positions)

Salary: R294,321 – R343,815 per annum

Locations:

• Magistrate, East London (Ref No: 80/23EC)
• Magistrate, Uitenhage (Ref No: 81/23EC) – Re-advertisement – applicants who previously applied must re-submit their applications
• Magistrate, Queenstown (Ref No: 82/23EC)
• Magistrate, Port Elizabeth (Ref No: 87/23EC) – Re-advertisement – applicants who previously applied must re-submit their applications

Requirements:

• Grade 12 with a minimum of 10 years’ practical experience as a Court Interpreter
• Or, a Grade 12 certificate with a National Diploma in Legal Interpreting at NQF level 5 or any relevant tertiary qualification at NQF level 5, plus 3 years’ practical experience as a Court Interpreter
• Proficiency in English and two or more indigenous languages (preference given to languages used in the specific area and sign language)
• Applicants will undergo a language test (speaking, reading, and writing)
• Possession of a driver’s license will be an advantage
• Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, attention to detail

Responsibilities:

• Interpretation in court for Criminal and Civil cases
• Interpretation for confessions, commissions, tribunals, and family law matters
• Translation of legal documents and exhibits for court use
• Involvement in serious cases
• Fulfillment of assigned duties in alignment with office rationalization
