The Emfuleni Local Municipality invites eligible South African students to submit applications for the Bursary Programme for the academic year 2024.

Bursary application closing date is 30 November 2023.

The Emfuleni Local Municipality offers bursaries to students residing within the Emfuleni municipal area in Gauteng.

Fields Covered:

  • Commerce
  • Human and Social Sciences
  • Law
  • Science and Technology
  • Technical Skills (e.g., Electrical, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, etc.)
  • Any other scarce and critical skills identified by the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) needs

  • Tuition fees
  • Books
  • Accommodation and meals (based on student needs)

Eligibility Criteria:

To be considered for the bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • South African citizenship
  • Residency within the Emfuleni Local Municipality area
  • Currently in Matric (in 2023) or have completed Matric
  • Minimum average of 60% in Matric
  • First-year full-time undergraduate study in one of the specified fields in 2024
  • Acceptance to study at a South African university or higher learning institution
  • Total household income of less than R350,000 per annum
  • Preference given to students from disadvantaged families registered on the indigent database categories
  • Preference for students enrolled at local institutions of higher learning, followed by Potchefstroom, Mahikeng, and Gauteng institutions

  • Application forms are also available at Emfuleni Local Municipality offices or public libraries.

  • Submit clear copies of required documents along with the completed application form.
