Online apply for a new SASSA card: The SASSA MasterCard can be used anywhere. These cards are accepted, and grant recipients can use it to check account balances, make purchases and withdraw cash at till points at selected South African retailers without incurring transaction fees. Recipients can also withdraw cash from any ATM, though this incurs transaction fees.
How to Apply for new SASSA card online:
- Visit https://services.sassa.gov.za/Account/Register to get started.
- Complete the user registration form.
- Provide your personal information, such as your name, surname, ID number, and so on.
- Please include your email address as well as your phone number.(Ensure that your contact information is up to date and that you use it on a regular basis, as you may receive communication from SASSA on it.)
- Provide a password to use for logging in to your SASSA account.
- You will be able to apply for grants once you have created an online SASSA account.
- All applicants must be South African citizens, permanent residents, or refugees residing in the country.
AT THE SOUTH AFRICA POST OFFICE, YOU CAN APPLY FOR A NEW SASSA CARD.
To receive their new Sassa/Postbank Gold Cards, social grant recipients must bring the following items to any nearby Post Office branch:
- A South African Identity Card
- The current SASSA/Postbank Gold Card (03/2023) will expire in March 2023.
Post Office Branch Hours of Operation:
Monday through Friday, 08H00 to 16H00
Saturday: 09:00 a.m. – 13:00 p.m.
Sunday is a holiday.
New Sassa gold cards will be issued only to the person whose expiring card was issued at Post Offices. No one will be able to collect a Sassa Gold Card on someone’s behalf unless they are registered as their procurator.
The beneficiary will be issued a new SASSA/Postbank Gold Card by Post Office branch personnel using fingerprint verification.
