The Eastern Cape Department of Community Safety invites interested and suitably qualified candidates to apply for the following positions:

Position: Admin Clerk: Finance & SCM (Ref No: DOCS 08/07/2024)

Salary: R216 417 – R254 928 per annum (Level 05)
Centre: Chris Hani District Office

Requirements:

  • National Senior Certificate (NQF Level 4 as recognized by SAQA) with no experience required.
  • An appropriate bachelor’s degree or diploma (NQF Level 6/7).
  • A valid South African driver’s license will be an added advantage.

Duties:

  • Provide clerical support in the requisition process of goods and services.
  • Record and process requests for goods from end users.
  • Compile procurement plans and compliance reports.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding procurement.
  • Capture information, generate orders on LOGIS, and follow up on outstanding orders.
  • Maintain the supplier database and support stock control and distribution processes.
  • Verify received goods, handle discrepancies, and ensure proper record-keeping.
  • Provide clerical support to transport and travel services, including booking arrangements.
  • Render general clerical support services.

Centre: Bhisho

Requirements:

  • National Senior Certificate (NQF Level 4 as recognized by SAQA) with no experience required.
  • An appropriate bachelor’s degree or diploma (NQF Level 6/7) in Financial Management or Supply Chain Management.
  • A valid South African driver’s license will be an added advantage.
  • Competency in supply chain management processes, inventory management, Public Service Management Act, Treasury Regulations, PPPFA, and other relevant prescripts.

Duties:

  • Verify and capture procurement source documents, ensuring compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Manage goods received, checked, and reconciled with orders.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure proper marking and packing of items.
  • Create and print orders on the LOGIS system.
  • Source quotations and assist end users with compliant specifications.
  • Prepare and compile quotations and capture awarded contracts on the National Treasury Contracts Registration Application (CRA).

ABOUT Eastern Cape Department of Community Safety

The mission of the Eastern Cape Department of Community Safety is to build safer communities through civilian oversight of the police and community participation.

The Department’s strategic goals are to ensure efficient and effective governance and administration of the Department; exercise oversight over the South African Police Service (SAPS) and Metro Police Services in the Eastern Cape; and build safer communities through effective partnerships.

The Department’s legal mandate is to: monitor and evaluate the implementation of policing policy in the province; evaluate and monitor police conduct in the province; develop and evaluate safety models and monitoring tools; assist the Civilian Secretariat with any monitoring and evaluation projects; promote community police relations and establish and promote partnerships; and manage the enhancement of community safety structures within the province.

Furthermore, the Department must: monitor the implementation by SAPS of the recommendations made by IPID; provide the Minister with regular reports on SAPS compliance; report on the implementation of the Domestic Violence Act of 1998, dealing with SAPS applications for exemptions, etc.; strengthen communities against crime; prevent violence; prevent corruption; and strengthen the criminal justice system.
