Position Summary: Senior Project Manager

Reporting to the Principal Project Manager or Project Director, the Senior Project Manager holds responsibility for overseeing project delivery with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness. This role encompasses end-to-end accountability for project scope, cost, schedule, and quality across all project phases.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide regular feedback to Project Sponsors and the Principal Project/Project Director on project progress, issues, and concerns.
• Actively participate in project-related activities, ensuring hands-on involvement and familiarity with all aspects of implementation.
• Make informed decisions and coordinate project needs in collaboration with the Principal Project Manager/Project Director.
• Collaborate with the project team to review project progress regularly and address any necessary adjustments.
• Act as the primary liaison with Transnet Divisions Customers and Stakeholders, supporting Senior Management and government interactions.

• Ensure project execution adheres to safety regulations, company policies, and established procedures.
• Develop an efficient organizational structure for project execution and establish relevant policies and procedures.
• Set goals, communicate priorities to team members, and provide leadership for achieving optimal outcomes.
• Oversee all aspects of the project, including engineering, procurement, construction, and external work by contractors and consultants.
• Maintain a strong client relationship at an executive level and take ownership of project outcomes.
• Ensure project completion within the authorized budget, schedule, and quality parameters.
• Foster effective communication among project team members and business units.
• Develop and manage project budgets and schedules, conducting regular progress and cost estimate reviews.
• Implement strategies to meet project objectives and facilitate a smooth transition to the operational phase.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree (B-Tech or BSc Eng., or Equivalent) in Civil, Mechanical, or related field.
• PMP Certification or Equivalent PM Certification or SACPCMP (PrCPM) registration.
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in infrastructure development or project management.

Competencies:

• Strong understanding of project management principles.
• Advanced knowledge of Marine or Civil engineering.
• Familiarity with industry codes, standards, and environmental rehabilitation.
• Thorough comprehension of project financial management.
